PERSONAL:
Brother Giovanni , a very promising tennis player himself and earned his first
ATP ranking in 1998. Won the U16 Junior Orange Bowl at Key Biscayne in December
1999. Has represented his country in Davis Cup since he was 17 and won the deciding
rubber against Great Britain (July 2000) to put Ecuador into the World Group.
Nicolas enjoyed a brilliant Junior career winning the Orange Bowl and reached Semi
Finals at French and US Open Junior events in 1994. In doubles won the French Open
Junior Title (w Kuerten) and US Open Junior title (w Ellwood)
Member of Ecuador Davis Cup team since 1993 with Career win/loss record - 44-22
(30-11 in Singles) - in 26 ties.
Coached by ex-professional Patricio Rodriguez since 1997. Fitness trainer is
Carlos Aranda
Set up the Nicolas Lapentti Foundation in late 2000 to help bring tennis to the
underprivileged, and develop future champions.
